BIG EAST PROPOSES FULL MEMBERSHIP FOR TECH
Virginia Tech has received a proposal of full membership from the Big East Conference. The university will review the proposal with the Big East during the coming weeks, and a decision is expected before the beginning of fall classes. Virginia Tech director of athletics Jim Weaver said, "Any decision of this importance does not happen overnight. The current period for reflection and discussion will be important to both parties."
Virginia Tech is currently a football member of the Big East. Tech also competes in the Eastern Wrestling League in wrestling, and its 19 other NCAA-sponsored sports programs compete in the Atlantic 10 Conference.
