PRESIDENTIAL SEARCH COMMITTEE TO HOLD PUBLIC FORUM

    The Virginia Tech Presidential Search Committee will hold a public forum on Saturday, July 31, to hear comments from faculty, students, staff, alumni, and the general public on evaluating candidates for president of Virginia Tech. The forum will be held in the Hotel Roanoke, Shenandoah Room A, from 10:00-11:45 a.m. Individuals interested in speaking at the forum must register by July 29. To register, contact the search committee office at (540) 231-2743 or vtsearch@vt.edu.

The search committee will also continue to receive written comments from the public. Comments may be delivered to the committee on July 31 or mailed to the following address: Virginia Tech Presidential Search Committee, Mail Code 0472, Blacksburg, VA 24061. NBA DRAFTS EDDIE LUCAS

On June 30, Eddie Lucas was picked by the Utah Jazz during the second round of the NBA draft. During the 1998-1999 season, the six-foot-six-inch forward/guard led the Virginia Tech mens basketball team in points per game (15.1), three-point field-goal percentage (45.5; the university record is 46.7), and free-throw percentage (86.0). He led the Atlantic 10 Conference in three-point field-goal percentage and three-point goals per game. Near the end of the season, he was ranked ninth in the nation in the NCAA Division I-A men's basketball statistics for three-pointers per game. He is the first Hokie drafted by the NBA since Bimbo Coles in 1990.
