BOARD UPDATES ALMA MATER

The next time you are singing the Virginia Tech Alma Mater in the shower don't forget to change some of the words, actually just one letter.

At the Sept. 10 meeting of the Virginia Tech Alumni Association Board of Directors, the board adopted a minor change to update the lyrics. The Alma Mater chorus was originally:

"So stand and sing, all hail to thee. V.P., all hail to thee."

The board approved the change of "V.P." to "VT." So the chorus is now:

"So stand and sing, all hail to thee. VT, all hail to thee."

The current alma mater was composed by E.T. Sparks '40 (music) and L.G. Chase '41(words) for a student contest held in the spring of 1939.
